Hey cuties! Let’s talk about curls!!
So I’ve been living that curly haired dream for 5+ years now! Growing up I always straightened my hair and now I can’t imagine wearing it any other way!
When I first started wearing my hair curly I did not do a big chop. Instead I looked to products like the Pantene Miracle Rescue Collection to help manage my hair that felt beyond repair. I stayed away from heat and made sure to take care of my hair in hopes of repair. This complete line of treatments provides you with more ways to rescue your hair depending on your type and need. It not only repairs past damage but will also protect from the future like styling, coloring or hot tools!
Today Ii want to share some of my curly hair must haves & rules for wear
DEEP CONDITION
I think all curly q’s know that you have to deep condition! It’s just a MUST. I do this every time I wash my hair (see below for how often that really is). I’ve tried a ton of deep conditions and often switch mine up depending on the season, how I’m styling my hair or my current hair needs. I’ve even made my own, but lately I’ve been adding these Miracle Rescue Intense Rescue Shots Miracle rescue intense shots to my conditions. Although It’s given me the freedom to try out other deep conditioners or make my own, while knowing I’m still getting any damage rescue treatments that I may need, it pairs best with the Miracle Rescue Deep Conditioning Treatment. Believe it or not, the two combined work just as well as a $60 treatment!
WASH DAYS
I wash my hair once anywhere between every 7 – 15 days. I could probably go a whole 30 (& did when I wore my hair straight) if I wanted because my hair is so dry that it doesn’t get greasy. But my curls usually last for about 7-10 days so I wash my hair about that much. It’s usually a whole day process so I can deep condition with the rescue shot for hours or even overnight before washing & letting it air dry. I could blow dry if I had to but I try to use a little heat as possible on my hair and usually opt for an air dry or overnight dry.
NIGHT ROUTINE
On the days when I’m not washing my hair, I make sure to sleep in a satin cap & use a satin pillow case to keep my curls looking cute. I’ve tried the pineapple method as well as a few other options, but at this length, a satin cap works best for me as my nightly protective style
IN BETWEEN WASHES
I really don’t do much in between washes. It’s my hope that the products I used early on will last me through a wash cycle. If needed I will add water through a spray bottle to touch up some curls. I try to embrace the frizz instead of fighting it, but if something is really bothering me, I’ll add a touch of styling product or even leave in conditioner to help bring it back to life. I try to add a light coat of UV protectant every day I’m stepping outside to protect my curls!
I also use a skinny curling iron or automatic curler to touch up the girls as we go. I give myself a 10 curl limit because otherwise iI get carried away with perfecting each curly & I don’t want to put that much heat on my head! When I do, I make sure I always use a Heat & UV protectant like the Miracle Rescue 10 -in -1 Multitasking Spray – luckily this product serves as both as well as a detangler & leave-in conditioner. Yay for multitasking!
GIZMOS & GADGETS
I also have a few gizmos and gadgets I like to keep handy in case my hair needs them. A hand held mirror helps me see the back, a hair pick to create volume, satin hair ties to prevent breakage, this awesome showercap for those non wash days & a curly girl approved microfiber towel! When paired with the right products, this makes up my curly hair routine!
